In 2021, Penland School of Craft hosted amazing summer workshop sessions. Although pandemic precautions kept us from holding scholarship auctions, we are happy to announce that "Fruits of Summer," our 2021 Summer Scholarship Auction is now LIVE ONLINE!

Over half of Penland’s students receive some type of financial assistance. Our oldest scholarship program, work-study, is funded in large part by our treasured, end-of-session auctions of donated instructor and student work. These affairs can last well into the night and are always raucous celebrations of each session's accomplishments. Work-study scholarships are a way to open Penland’s doors as wide as we can, regardless of financial means or prior craft experience. Work-study students forge deep connections with one another. Many Penland residents, staff, or instructors first came here as work-study students.

We’re excited to open the bidding to our Penland friends, near and far. And we’re honored to present works made by our instructors, each of them leaders in their field, and much of it was created here at Penland exclusively for this auction!
