"In my studio practice, using the recycled skateboards is a process of discovery. I never know what I am receiving in each box that I am given in regards to colors, patterns and parts. It is very rare that I have metallics and mirrored graphics on the boards, so when I do, I know immediately that I want to capture the essence of the board in a statement. This board was no exception.

The Gem Collet is a design that harkens back to the royal high court family necklace heirloom formats. Typically each of those necklaces were scaled based on a graduating stone alignment, predominantly diamonds. I wanted to change how this format could look today, in a new material such as my recycled skateboards. How I needed it to look, for me. Hence, the collet was born and has been a signature in my collection since 2015."
